THE BEGINNING...

In this module we were supposed to work in groups.The class then had to select a space to work. The space chosen was Naraina Vihar.We started exploring Naraina Vihar market,we visited few shops but didn't select any.

Finially, we decided to work on  Noodle court. As the name says, it is known for its Chinese and Thai food. As our research began about the place,we had a lot of questions in our mind about various things.

Firstly, the taste. As obvious Indians love food and me being a punjabi live for food.So the most basic concern I had was about the taste of the food available. For any place to run, that is essential. 

Secondly, the hygiene. whether the food available would be hygienic and healthy for consumption.

Thirdly, price. Of course  people would opt for such a place which provides with taste, quality and reasonable price altogether.

We were pretty excited to find out what was in store for us.

   We were given a choice of various topics from which we had to choose our specific area of interest about the place. For this purpose I chose Ambience and Visual Culture as my topic as it attracts me the most about any place. The appearance, the setup, the presentation, and the tiny details about the place is visual appearance.

As I explored, I found out the mood and the ambience of the place was busy and lively. the crowd  basically consists of college students who enjoy the spicy exotic Thai and Chinese food.

In all it was an amazing experience visiting the Noodle Court and on a private note I loved the food and the quality of food is totally healthy and hygeinic  for intake. This is it from my side this week..it shall be followed by my teammates in full depth in the following weeks.

the module started with the briefing to keep us acquainted with what we have to do. The class was asked to choose a space and work there. The work had to be done in groups. My group included Raghavi (captain), Shivranjini, Sachika, Sejal and myself. The space decided by class was Naraina Vihar. On our first visit to Naraina Vihar we visited the market there.

We saw few shops and did not find interesting things. So we went to some other place where we found two shops, Chaman Juice shop and Noodle Court. We asked few questions to the owners of both the shops and even clicked pictures. The next day we decided to do our research on Noodle Court.

We decided on how to take our research further. Thereafter, we made questionnaires to be filled by customers of Noodle court as well as general public. We ha few questions to ask to the owner as well. The next day we all decided as to who will do research on what topic (we were given 5 topics). I did some sketching and then and then we distributed questionnaires to the people accordingly.

I chose the topic Processes and System. Under this I am supposed to do research 

• on how processes and systems exist within the setup
• on how the inventory/stock is managed
• on hoe cash flow/billing is managed
• what is the system of delivery and supply
• costing of raw material and dishes he serves
• and what are the processes of making/ serving/ packaging/ selection etc

That's all, my group members will take it further !!

Reflection of my start...

In the fifth module, we were asked to make groups. My group included Raghavi(captain), Sachika, Sejal, Khushboo and myself. We were asked to work on a particular space, to study it, to figure out the problems in order to know what design solution is required in that area. Our class decided to work on Naraina Vihar. Our teachers guided us to click pictures, observe materials and do sketching for the first week. We started our field visit by exploring different places.

I decided to study objects and materials in detail. I am supposed to do research on all the objects that are used in the space including furniture, equipment, packaging etc. I would probably find out how that object is made. Later on I will do a comparative analysis between street food corner and fine dine in restraunt.

Our new module five is all about studying a space and finding out a design solution.This module we are working in teams and my group consists of Raghavi( leader),Khushboo,Sachika,Shivranjani and myself.We visited Naraina Vihar the decided place to observe the operations.We chose noodle court as our site to study.

The fast food corner that serves Chinese and Thai is located near PnB bank adjacent to Chaman Juice Corner.The challenge was to explore the selected place after having looked at other places.We also prepared questionannaires to be filled by general public and customers of noodle court.i sketeched a few elements of the place to start with and have also prepared questions to interview the manager and staff.We then divided the aspects of our study and i chose People Society and Culture. To explore these areas completely. I have decided to study how the People of the place run the joint, and find answers to the questions in my mind like why does the joint have a Red colour? Why do they only sell  Chinese and Thai?Who decided the prices?

We look forward to the journet ahead as a team and find the solutions that we intend throughout it.

Week 1 of module 5 was simply a breather after an exhaustive module 4.
The tutors for the first two weeks of the phase are Ms.Neha Prasad, Mr.Kunal Sinha,Ms.Chris Mary Kurian and Mr. Rupesh Misra.

NARAINA VIHAR

The PURPOSE of this blog is to document and communicate my group's journey which includes Sachika Taneja, Shivranjani Singh Tomar, Sejal Arora and Khushboo Bhanushali.
We were told that we shall be working in a group to explore how to understand a given situation to identify opportunities and concerns that calls for design solutions;and address them by defining design guidelines. Our class, section-L decided collectively to work in Naraina Vihar locality for the project.
I along with my team members set on feild visits from the very first day. We explored Naraina Vihar deeply and finally decided that the design space for our project would be NOODLE COURT.

OUR WORKSPACE

The following day we analysed more about noodle court,henceforth we decided to have a base plan in order to proceed further. We started with making questionnaires;questionnaire one was a general questionnaire on people's eating habits;questionnaire two pertained strictly to people visiting noodle court. We further prepared a list of questions to be asked to the owner of the outlet.



I then started with some sketching. Sketching is not my thing :P so this below is what I attempted.

Further we divided tasks amongst ourselves.
We shall be working on them in the coming weeks.
